This historic route - between two national forests adjacent to
a wilderness area follows the upper Verde River, ideally situated above the heat of the
desert and below the cold of Arizonas high country. With first-class passage,
hors doeuvres are served and a full service bar is available. Coach cars provide
Pullman-style seating with two seats on each side of a center aisle, as well as a snack
bar in each car. Coach and first-class passengers may access open-air viewing cars. The
Verde Canyon Railroad has a mini-museum, gift shop and Cafe, where lunch can be purchased
prior to the ride.
The Verde Canyon Railroad is a "train for all seasons" and runs year-round on
a varied schedule. The schedule is reduced slightly during December and January. Morning
and afternoon trains are added during March and April, and starlight trains run May
through October.
The Verde Canyon Railroad offers a toll-free number, 800-293-7245, which is open seven
days a week from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. (Arizona Standard Time.)
The Clarkdale, Arizona depot is only 25 miles from scenic Sedona, just two hours north
of Phoenix, and three hours south of the Grand Canyon.
We offer room and ride packages with numerous hotels in the Verde Valley area.
Its not the destination, its the journey!
