JUNIOR GIRL SCOUT TROOP 876

About us

We belong to the Montachusett Girl Scout Council in Sterling, MA. We meet once-a-week on Thursday after school. We usally meet at Houghton Elementary School from 3:00 - 5:00 pm.

Who's Who?

We have 17 girls in our troop and two leaders. There are seven girls in the fourth grade and ten girls in the fifth grade. Our leaders are Barbara and Diane. Our troop is divided into four patrols. The Clueless No Name Nuts, The Sparklers, Clueless and the Hip-Hops. Cool names. The girls picked them.

Activities

Our troop loves to do lots of activities. On March 30, 1996 we joined other Junior Girl Scout troops from all over New England at Old Sturbridge Village. We learned about the lives of ordinary and extraordinary women of the 1830's. Through hands-on activities, guided discovery sheets of the Village, and encounters with characters from the past, we learned about the everyday lives of 19th-century women and earned the "Old Sturbridge Village Women's History Patch."

On April 11, 1996 we will be visiting a nearby Nursing Home. We are planning a sing-along along with refreshments and gifts for the residents.

On April 14, 1996 we will be visiting Plimoth Plantation and the Mayflower II. We are looking forward to this trip because this will be the first time for everyone in our troop to visit this living history museum.

On May 2, 1996 we will be attending a two-hour class at the John Robert Powers Modeling School. We are going to learn why good skin care is important and whatit takes to become a model. We even get to walk down the runway that models use.

On May 9, 1996 we will put a little country into our meeting. We are going line-dancing. Our favorite dance is the Electric Slide and our favorite song is Achy Breaky Heart. We are planning to march in the towns Memorial Day parade too.
