Hi! We are Troop 197 from Raymond, Wisconsin.

Raymond is a town in southeastern Wisconsin, between Milwaukee and Racine. Some of our troop lives in Raymond (Mallory, Jenny, and Lauren), two live in Racine (Nicole and Samantha), and one lives in Union Grove (Stephanie). We have now bridged into Cadette Girl Scouting and are 7th graders. Almost all of us have been in scouting since Kindergarten.

We want to do more service projects this year than we have in the past, and are always looking for new ideas - do you have any to share? Our troop especially likes doing activities related to animals. This spring we will be working with a group called "Orphaned Canines", a "no-kill" shelter for older dogs, and may be able to help another group feed abandoned wild animals. For leadership credit we often work with troops of younger girls. This year we helped a 1st grade Brownie troop learn about selling Girl Scout cookies, playing games and role playing with them. In April we will be helping a 3rd grade troop meet their bridging requirements.

As Cadette Scouts, we will be working on our silver award projects over the next two-three years. We have already completed the Law and Order and Cookies and Dough Interest Projects, and have started our From Dreams To Reality patch. We are currently working on the Pet Care Interest Project and hope to do a silver award project related to pets and animals.

We also love sports. Last spring we participated in a 12-mile hike sponsored by Badger Trails, a group that sets up hikes in Wisconsin, and as part of GirlSports 2000 we rode our bikes in the Waterford "Bike-A-Thon". This spring we are signing up for the 20-mile Badger Trails hike. Two members of our troop played football this year, and one plays basketball on the school team. Some of us plan to attend resident camp this summer for horseback riding and bike riding.

This summer we will be attending the Destination Dakota jamboree in South Dakota - maybe we will see you there!!!
