One of our ongoing projects will be to collect guiding crests from all over the world to put on a quilt. One side will have all the Canadian provinces and the other side will be the world. On January 14, we will be taking an adventure walk outside around the school. BRING A FLASHLIGHT AND DRESS TO PLAY OUTSIDE. Other topics for the evening will be a bear hunt; covering safe play and what to do if we are lost. How about a new song? The Dutch Shoe Song.

January 19 (Sunday), Guiding/Kinsmen Club Skating Day. Girls will collect pledges and skate on the canal to raise money. The Kinsmen Club of Ottawa supports service projects such as the Ottawa Boys and Girls Club, Operation Go Home, and Cystic Fibrosis research.

January 21 will be our Brownies around the world night. We will go on an imaginary trip to Japan, write messages to Brownie Troop 5 living in Yokota, Japan and play a Japanese Brownie game. Bring in anything you would like to share from Japan

January 28 will be Brownies across Canada evening. We will make popup Thinking Day cards to share with Brownies in Newfoundland. Have you ever played fish in a net? If we have time we will learn a new action song; The Gallant Ship. We will add the crests we receive to our world quilt. Bring in anything you would like to share from Newfoundland.

On February 4 we will visit the Museum of Science and Technology. Drop off and pick up will be at the museum at our regular meeting hours. This is a Girl Guides Science Exploration Night, many groups of Girl Guides will be visiting the museum from all over Ottawa.

February 11 is a Valentines, Good Turn theme. We will make special Valentines to give to our family and friends. We will have an Outlook testing night. Our group outlook to work on is world friendship. We will share messages FROM Brownies in Japan and hopefully Newfoundland.

February 17 (Monday) 7:00-8:15pm. Campfire at Featherston Public School, 1801 Featherston Drive, near Featherston and Jefferson. This is a Thinking Week activity involving all the districts units. The Pathfinders are organizing this fun event.

February 18 No meeting tonight because of campfire last night.

February 23 (Sunday)An afternoon of toboganning. Time and place to be confirmed. Family are welcome to join us. Hopefully we will also meet some Girl Guides we will be bridging with next year.

February 25 No meeting tonight. Brown Owl will still be recovering from Sunday.

We are also working on details for a few other evenings. A communication evening; braille, body language, foreign language (other than french or english). An evening when the Sparks can come and join us for a meeting. The girls will also be learning about money, banking and maybe we can even set up our own bank. We will also be planning our first unit sleepover! If you have had fun at a sleepover let us know what you did or send us an idea for a theme for the sleepover. Come back again Send us mail
