Jewish Holidays in 2003:

This page is offered in an attempt to educate Girl Scouts on different holidays. Learning about these holidays, all celebrated in Israel, fulfill several try-it, badge, and interest project requirements, as well as parts of the Juliette Low World Friendship Patch.

Dates for Jewish holidays are based on a lunar calendar, like Chinese (or Lunar) New Year and Easter. Jewish holidays always begin at sundown the evening before that indicated on most calendars.

Leaders with Jewish girls in their troops should avoid scheduling major troop events (such as campouts) during the High Holy Days or Passover.
