Hi! We are Troop 836 of the Hudson Valley Girl Scout Council. Our troop is made up of first and second grade Brownies. Our names are Sarah, Kerry, Katherine, Shari, Jasmine, Gwendolyn, Veronica, Tara, Tessa and Raeleen.
We meet twice a month in Slingerlands, New York. Slingerlands is a suburb of Albany, the capital of New York State. We live in Clarksville, Delmar, Glenmont and Slingerlands and attend Town of Bethlehem schools.
We started meeting in October, 1996. At our first meeting we talked about what we would like to do this year and started working on cookie selling. We watched the cookie selling video and made a human dreamcatcher by standing in a circle and throwing a ball of yarn to each other.
For a Thanksgiving activity we decorated cupcakes to look like turkeys. We have also made dreamcatchers and listened to the dreamcatcher story. We had our investiture ceremony in January.
For Thinking Day we learned about New Zealand. We made paper weavings, played sheep tag and had a snack of ANZAC biscuits and lemonade. We also exchanged postcards with a troop in Kansas City, Missouri.
Other upcoming activies are earning the Water Everywhere try-it at Five Rivers Environmental Center, making collages and pots, cooking and hiking. Our parents will help us to learn about sewing, juggling and living with disabilities.
